100 DAYS

It's going to be a long 4 years.

100 DAYS, 100 MISTAKES

http://www.nypost.com/seven/04252009/postopinion/opedcolumnists/100_days__100_mistakes_166177.htm

It's official: Barack Obama is the second most reviled newbie president of the last forty years. A gallup survey today published in the Washington Times shows Obama to have an approval rating of just 56 per cent. The only president to have performed worse than that at the end of his first 100 days in office was Bill Clinton

How Much More......

can we take? Can they get any more stupid?

I have been busy lately so I haven't had much time to post. Plus, Obama and Co. just seem to have settled into a pattern of screw-ups that I'm suffering from overload. But this, I had to make time for.

http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/F-16s-at-Lady-Liberty-Put-City-on-Edge.html

The Pentagon did tell local authorities about the startling fly-over that sent a Boeing 747 and a F-16 fighter screaming over New York's scarred skyline, but officials said they couldn't share the information with the public. They couldn't even share the information with the mayor.

Mayor Bloomberg said he was "furious" and criticized both the feds and his own administration for failing to issue a simple warning to the public in a city that is still somewhat traumatized by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

"The good news is it was nothing more than an inconsiderate, badly conceived and insensitive photo op with the taxpayers' money," Bloomberg said.

News 4 New York learned Monday night that at least 90 calls were placed to 911 about the plane.

An official from the Obama administration said the White House Military Office wanted to update its file photo of the president's plane near the Statue of Liberty.

From Ace:

http://ace.mu.nu/archives/286559.php

The Statue of Liberty is a nice touch, for extra drama and terror. Know how to make people really scared? Put a 747 on an intercept course with a major element of the New York skyline.

The F-16 chasing it, almost as if it's about to shoot it down and rain steel and jet fuel over the city, demonstrates Obama's attention to detail.

Well. Obama got his photo op, didn't he? The screaming, running, terrified Manhattanites makes for a great picture.

Now, if you or I did something to insight panic over a major city we'd be charged insighting a riot, arrested and thrown in jail for a long time. Well, once again, the Obama administration show us that they are above and beyond us mere mortals.

Yom HaShoah ( Holocaust Remembrance Day)

Take this time to remember.
Take this time to pray.
Take this this time to acknowledge that this DID happen.
Take this time to take an oath.

NEVER AGAIN!

http://history1900s.about.com/cs/holocaust/a/yomhashoah.htm

It has been over 60 years since the Holocaust. To survivors, the Holocaust remains real and ever-present, but for some others, sixty years makes the Holocaust seem part of ancient history. Year-round we try to teach and inform others about the horrors of the Holocaust. We confront the questions of what happened? How did it happen? How could it happen? Could it happen again? We attempt to fight against ignorance with education and against disbelief with proof.

But there is one day in the year when we make a special effort to remember (Zachor). Upon this one day, we remember those that suffered, those that fought, and those that died. Six million Jews were murdered. Many families were completely decimated.

http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2008/05/visions-of-horror-eisenhower-bradley.html

On the morning of April 12th, 1945 General Eisenhower met Generals Bradley and Patton at Ohrdruf Concentration Camp. Afterwards Eisenhower also ordered every American soldier in the area who was not on the front lines to visit Ohrdruf and Buchenwald. He wanted them to see for themselves what they were fighting against. On this Yom HaShoah their words are much more moving then anything I could say :

During the camp inspections with his top commanders Eisenhower said that the atrocities were “beyond the American mind to comprehend.” He ordered that every citizen of the town of Gotha personally tour the camp and, after having done so, the mayor and his wife went home and hanged themselves. Later on Ike wrote to Mamie, “I never dreamed that such cruelty, bestiality, and savagery could really exist in this world.” He cabled General Marshall to suggest that he come to Germany and see these camps for himself. He encouraged Marshall to bring Congressmen and journalists with him. It would be many months before the world would know the full scope of the Holocaust — many months before they knew that the Nazi murder apparatus that was being discovered at Buchenwald and dozens of other death camps had slaughtered millions of innocent people.

General Eisenhower understood that many people would be unable to comprehend the full scope of this horror. He also understood that any human deeds that were so utterly evil might eventually be challenged or even denied as being literally unbelievable. For these reasons he ordered that all the civilian news media and military combat camera units be required to visit the camps and record their observations in print, pictures and film. As he explained to General Marshall, “I made the visit deliberately, in order to be in a position to give first-hand evidence of these things if ever, in the future, there develops a tendency to charge these allegations merely to ‘propaganda.’”

About Torture

Great post by Pat over at Tammy Bruce's site : http://tammybruce.com/2009/04/exaketededly_what_is_your_prob.php

Money Quote:

We are talking about psychopaths who live in cultures where women are considered chattel and whipped to the point of screaming agony in a public square, homosexuals are hanged from cranes, honor killings and beheadings are par for the course and seriously agonizing torture is actually practiced.

I have posted about this before. The things being labeled as "torture" are not torture.
Does that mean I would want to have to endure them? No, of course not. But I don't want to ever serve time in jail either. I wouldn't want to be forced to go through Marine bootcamp either.
Hell, I'd rather not have to ever go to the dentist.

That being said, waterboarding is not torture. Unpleasant? Yes.

So what is torture?

Well, you can start with this:

"Shot heard 'round the world"

April 19, 1775

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shot_heard_round_the_world

"By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled;
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard 'round the world."

Battle at Lexington Green, 1775

In the predawn light of April 19, the beating drums and peeling bells summoned between 50 and 70 militiamen to the town green at Lexington. As they lined up in battle formation the distant sound of marching feet and shouted orders alerted them of the Redcoats' approach. Soon the British column emerged through the morning fog and the confrontation that would launch a nation began.

Awesome Tam Quote!

http://booksbikesboomsticks.blogspot.com/2009/04/rightwing-terrorism.html

Rightwing Terrorism...
...apparently consists of standing around in a quasi-orderly fashion, waving signs, chatting with neighbors, picking up trash, walking back to the car, and going home.

If that inspires "terror" in you, I'd hate to think how you'd react if these people were really angry, you grass-eater.

Where's The Outrage?

Again, as in the 'Clinton Era', when a Republican did some thing the Left flipped-out. When a Democrat does the same thing, nobody bats an eye.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30238492/

WASHINGTON - The National Security Agency intercepted private e-mail messages and phone calls of Americans in recent months on a scale that went beyond the broad legal limits established by Congress last year, government officials said in recent interviews.

After a contentious three-year debate that was set off by the disclosure in 2005 of the program of wiretapping without warrants that President George W. Bush approved after the Sept. 11 attacks, Congress gave the N.S.A. broad new authority to collect, without court-approved warrants, vast streams of international phone and e-mail traffic as it passed through American telecommunications gateways.

I Guess He's A 'Right-Wing Extremist' Too

http://www.drudgereport.com/flashtx.htm

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry joined state Rep. Brandon Creighton and sponsors of House Concurrent Resolution (HCR) 50 in support of states’ rights under the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

Am I A Right-wing Extremist?

I don't think so. But whatever. Here's Kevin's take on it over at The Smallist Minority:

http://smallestminority.blogspot.com/2009/04/but-what-if-your-loyalty-is-to.html

But What if Your Loyalty is to the Constitution?

I guess it makes you a potential Rightwing Extremist.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
They missed the single biggest group out there: those of us who aren't anti-government, we just want our elected and appointed officials to do what they swear to do upon taking their offices: uphold and defend The Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic. As one ARFCOMmer put it:

This "homeland" shit that suddenly started up in the last couple years pisses me off. It reeks of the "fatherland" and "motherland" propaganda shit our enemies used throughout the 20th century. The Nazi regime was "father" to the German people. The Soviet regime was "mother" to the Russian people.

I don't need the government to be my big brother, my parent, my nanny, or my caretaker. It needs to maintain public services (roads, etc.), maintain foreign relations and the military, keep the states from squabbling, and stay the fuck out of my life.

AMEN!

This desire, apparently, makes us "antigovernment rightwing extremists."

So be it.

HOT DIGGITY DAMN!!!!

Captain Phillips Free, 3 Pirates Killed, 1 Captured!!!!!!!!

An American ship captain was freed unharmed Sunday and three of the pirates who held him for days in a lifeboat off the Somali coast were killed in a operation by U.S. Navy Seals that was approved by President Barack Obama, officials said.

It will take awhile to get what happened sorted out. But really who cares? This is was the only acceptable outcome.

SIDEBAR: Does this settle that age old question of "who is better? Pirates or Ninjas"? It seems to me, the Ninjas kicked ass!

White House: No bow to Saudi King (Yeah Right)

Well, the funny thing is even the Saudis thought it was a bow.

Interestingly, a columnist in the Saudi-backed Arabic paper Asharq Alawsat also took the gesture as a bow and appreciated the move.

North Korea Didn't 'Win'

So says State Department Spokesman Robert Wood.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/06/north-korea-didnt-win-despite-languid-response-far-rocket-launch/

Yeah right! I got news for you pal. The Norks just 'mooned' us gave us the finger and bitch slapped us. And they and just about everyone else from Pyongyang to Damascus is laughing their asses off at how impotent we've become.

As a reminder, take a look at this timeline of our dealings with North Korea. This is from June 2008.

http://www.armscontrol.org/factsheets/dprkchron

For years, the United States and the international community have tried to negotiate an end to North Korea’s nuclear and missile development and its export of ballistic missile technology. Those efforts were dealt a severe setback in early October, when Pyongyang acknowledged having a secret program to enrich uranium for use in nuclear weapons, shocking Washington and capitals around the world.

This is not the first crisis concerning North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons. In 1985, North Korea joined the nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT), which requires non-nuclear states to forswear the development and acquisition of nuclear weapons. But in 1992, International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors discovered that North Korea had diverted plutonium for a weapons program in violation of its treaty commitments. In 1993, amid demands for special inspections, North Korea announced its intention to withdraw from the NPT. The crisis was resolved in 1994 when the United States and North Korea signed the Agreed Framework, under which Pyongyang committed to freezing its illicit plutonium weapons program in exchange for two proliferation-resistant nuclear reactors and additional aid.

The Clinton administration subsequently pursued talks with Pyongyang to limit its ballistic missile programs but was unable to finalize an agreement. After suspending talks in March 2001 pending a policy review, the Bush administration expressed a willingness to meet with Pyongyang, but President George W. Bush also named North Korea part of an “axis of evil” and linked progress on nonproliferation with other issues that delayed talks. North Korea’s admission of having a uranium enrichment program now calls into question the future of U.S.-North Korean relations, in particular the implementation of the Agreed Framework.

The following chronology summarizes developments in North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs, and the efforts to end them, since 1985.

The Slide To Third World Nation Status Continues

First we have North Korea's missile...er satellite launch, which was met by nothing more than semi-stern words and hand wringing.

Here's John Bolton's take on it:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123897547166291201.html

So far, therefore, the missile launch is an unambiguous win for North Korea. (Although not orbiting a satellite, all three rocket stages apparently fired, achieving Pyongyang's longest missile flight yet.) But the negative repercussions will extend far beyond Northeast Asia.

Iran has carefully scrutinized the Obama administration's every action, and Tehran's only conclusion can be: It is past time to torque up the pressure on this new crowd in Washington. Not only is Iran's back now covered by its friends Russia, China and others on the U.N. Security Council, but it sees an American president so ready to bend his knee for public favor in Europe that the mullahs' wish list for U.S. concessions will grow by the minute.

Israel must also be carefully considering how the U.S. watched North Korea rip through "the international community." The most important lesson the new government headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should draw is: Look out for No. 1. If Israel isn't prepared to protect itself, including using military force, against Iran's nuclear weapons program, it certainly shouldn't be holding its breath for Mr. Obama to do anything.

Russia and China must also be relishing this outcome. They will have faced down Mr. Obama in his first real crisis, having provided Security Council cover for a criminal regime, and emerged unscathed. They will conclude that achieving their large agendas with the new administration can't be too hard. That conclusion may be unfair to the new American president; but it will surely color how Moscow and Beijing structure their policies and their diplomacy until proven otherwise. That alone is bad news for Washington and its allies.

Russia and China are ramping-up their aggressiveness and 'Cold War' rhetoric, Barkey is running around apologising, groveling and prostrating himself and by default, us, to every world leader that stands still long enough. And as if that wasn't enough we are going cancel or cut back on the very weapons systems we will need in the future to attack and defend against rogue nations like Iran, North Korea, and Syria.

Gates Calls for Cuts to High-Tech Weapons Programs

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/first100days/2009/04/06/gates-calling-cuts-high-tech-weapons-programs/

In a move that won mixed reviews from lawmakers on Capitol Hill, Gates said his $534 billion budget proposal represents a "fundamental overhaul" in defense acquisition and reflects a shift in priorities from fighting conventional wars to the newer threats U.S. forces face from insurgents in places such as Afghanistan.

Again we see the Pentagon planing on fighting the last war instead of the next one.

He called for production of the F-22 jet to stop at 187 jets. The U.S. military has 183 jets in service now, so just four more would be funded as part of the fiscal 2009 supplemental budget if President Obama approves the recommendations. The planes cost $140 million each.

Plans to build a shield to defend against missile attacks by rogue states would also be scaled back.

As I have stated before, once the F-22 production line is shutdown, if not restarted again within a year, it will be gone forever. Aircraft such as the A-10, F-15, are being grounded because of their age and flight hours. The F-22 is supposed to be the F-15's replacement, but as capable as it is, 187 of them can't replace 888 F-15s.

That leaves the F-35, not as capable as the F-22, it was meant to replace the F-16. They're looking to purchase 1763 for the Air Force, 480 for the Navy and 480 for the Marines.
We'll have to see what becomes of those numbers, especially after this report:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13639_3-10196641-42.html

The Department of Defense's $1 trillion-plus plan to build and deliver multiple versions of the Joint Strike Force (JSF) aircraft to multiple customers is behind schedule, over budget, and upside down, according to a report from the Government Accounting Office (PDF).

Chronic manufacturing inefficiencies, parts problems, design changes, and a steep learning curve have slowed delivery of test aircraft, according to the watchdog agency, even as DOD wants to ramp up production of line aircraft. Speeding up the delivery of 169 aircraft by 2015 will require billions in additional funding, "magnifying the financial risk to the government" and adding years to the development schedule, according to the GAO.

My Thoughts On Obama Bowing

Are exactly te same as Lawdog's, so I'm not going to try and improve on it.

Meditations on bowing

http://thelawdogfiles.blogspot.com/2009/04/meditations-on-bowing.html

When President Obama bowed to King Abdullah, that wasn't Barry Obama bowing, that was the entirety of the American People giving a singular, one-sided, unreturned display of submission to another nation.

Aren't Depressed Enough? Go Read This!

Found at Sister Toldjah:

http://sistertoldjah.com/archives/2009/04/03/1932-or-1923/

1932 or 1923?

If the Telegraph’s Martin Hutchinson is right, we should be worried that instead of 1932,
it’s 1923:

…look at the Weimar government. Suffering from the trauma of defeat in the First World War and the burden of reparations, it was too weak to raise taxes. It ran large budget deficits instead. Interest rates were kept far below the rate of inflation, while money supply expanded rapidly. About half of government expenditure was funded by newly printed money.

The great economist John Maynard Keynes provided an acid comment in 1920. “The inflationism of the currency systems of Europe has proceeded to extraordinary lengths. Governments, unable, or too timid or too short-sighted to secure from loans or taxes the resources they required, have printed notes for the balance.”

In Germany, the result was hyperinflation. By November 1923, the mark was worth one trillionth of its 1914 value. Pay packets were collected in wheelbarrows. Foreign depositors in German banks were wiped out.

Think about how President Obama and the progressive Democrats are spending like drunken sailors on payday: How are they going to pay for it? There are three ways: borrow the money (”Hello, Beijing? I’d like two trillion in take-out money, to go, please. Just charge it.”), tax the people until we bleed, or print a lot of new money. That last is the 1923 or “Weimar” option. Think it won’t happen?

You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet! (or the beginning of the end)

No further comment needed. Just go read Michelle Malkin's article:

http://michellemalkin.com/2009/04/03/obama-census-no-illegal-alien-left-behind/

The Census is used to divvy up seats in the House as a proportion of their population based on the head count. More people equals more seats. More illegal immigrants counted equals more power. This is not hypothetical. The Center for Immigration Studies determined that in the 2000 election cycle, the presence of non-citizens (including illegal immigrants, temporary visitors, and green-card holders) caused nine seats in the House to switch hands. As the think tank’s analysis reported: California added six seats it would not have had otherwise. Texas, New York, and Florida each gained a seat. Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin each lost a seat. Montana, Kentucky, and Utah each failed to secure a seat they would otherwise have gained.

Translation in plain English: Open borders have profound consequences. And they don’t end with congressional apportionment. The redistribution of power extends to presidential elections because the Electoral College is pegged to the size of congressional delegations.

Big Gun Kewlness!

Heh! Killer Junior. From The Armorer: http://www.thedonovan.com/archives/2009/04/on_artillery.html

Never heard of it before. Freakin' KEWL!

The name Killer Junior dates back to Vietnam, and was a mission designed to defend fire bases against ground attack. You use an HE round with a time fuze set to burst approximately 30 feet off the ground at ranges of 200 to 1,000 meters.

Another use was counter-sniper. The sniper fired one 7.62mm solid slug into the firebase, firebase returned 105mm high explosive to the sniper.

(Pa.) Senate approves military uniform bill

http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/local/courier_times/courier_times_news_details/article/28/2009/april/01/senate-approves-military-uniform-bill.html

The result was Senate Bill 206, which the Senate approved Tuesday by a 49-1 vote, that prohibits public school officials from discriminating against members of the armed forces,

McIlhinney's legislation, which will now go to the House of Representatives for consideration, would prohibit any principal, superintendent or school official from denying any member of the military entry to school facilities because he or she is wearing a military uniform. Military members would still be expected to comply with a school's visitor policy, but they could not be denied access because of their uniforms, McIlhinney said.

Oh and if your curious:

State Sen. Jim Ferlo, a Democrat from Allegheny County, was the lone vote against the bill.

Can we question their patriotism now?
