That Really Grinds My Gears......

The Big Three automakers in the US are begging for bailout money because there're run by a bunch of dumbasses. Guys that are making millions of dollars yet couldn't see the writing on the wall fortelling higher gas and insurance prices.

So, we won't by their cars because they suck, so they're going to take our money anyway by getting the Gov. to give them tax money.

And yet do you know what they're spending billions of development dollars on? Hybrid vehicles? Alternative energies? Lighter more economic vehicles? NOPE!

"For the automatics, the L99 V-8 should make about 395 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque. Manual transmission SS models will receive an LS3 V-8 with an estimated output of 420 horsepower and 408 pound-feet of torque on premium."

Now, I'm not just picking on GM, all three have been developing muscle cars. Don't get me wrong, I love muscle cars (Mustangs for me) but we are in a recession with more and more people getting layed off. Even those with stable jobs are cutting back and watching their pennies.
And just a few months ago we had $4 a gallon gas and this past sales year all three were all but giving away anything with a V8. Muscle cars and sports cars in general only account for a small percentage of car sales. How can they justify the develpoment costs?

If anything happens to drive fuel prices up again, they won't be able to give these cars away. But that's OK. They'll just ask for more of our tax dollars.

Here's my opinion:
By continually bailing out private corporations, the government is nullifying free market capitalism. These corporations no longer have to worry about poor sales of crappy products.
I understand the arguments that we can't let them fail because they're too big and employ too many people, but with them continuing this kind of BS, I say let them fail.
